Youth Group Management Software – Tips For Finding Your Solution

As a former full-time youth minister (and now volunteer worker), I know first-hand how important it is to capture and maintain accurate contact information for your students. It doesn’t matter if you have 10 students or 1,000. Having a good system in place to do this is mission critical.

While there are a few good youth ministry software packages out there, along with some quality web-based youth group management websites, you simply need a system that will fit you — even if it is just an Excel spreadsheet!

This article is just an attempt to share some things that you might want to keep in mind when choosing a youth group software package or contact management solution.

  • Are you able to generate mailing labels? Yes, even in today’s world, a mailed newsletter still works (and gets stuck to the Fridge). You’ll want to be able to export your data directly to labels.
  • Is it easy and convenient to keep updated? Even the best youth group software package is useless if it is not easy to get in, make updates, and get out. Web-based services offer a benefit here — especially if, like me, you don’t work from a central location all the time.
  • Are you able to associate photos with your contacts? This is a must-have feature for me and my short-term memory! Being able to see photos of new students is a big boast to memorizing names.
  • Can you make Family Associations? Sure, “family” has a loose definition these days, but it is still important to be able to group your students into family groups in your database system. I especially like to create a “family” group for each student so I can keep important family information, even if their family does not attend with the student.
  • Can it print a check-in sheet? It is very helpful to be able to print out a sheet to take with you to youth group to use for attendance and writing down visitor info.

While you are still in high school you should start searching for good schools for accounting degree. Even if you have a mediocre GPA you can still get into good accounting schools. The eastern parts of the country have one of the nation’s very old but very reputed business and accounting schools. These schools have years of good results to back them and students when graduated are at good firms. But in case you prefer city life, then you opt for the colleges in the city area of NY City, Philadelphia Boston, and Washington D.C. Other schools are located in places that have either severe winter conditions. If you like winters, you can then opt for places with milder winter conditions such as northern parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, North Carolina and West Virginia. Schools that are located in places with snowy winters include New York Upstate and New England. Thus, for those of you who want to study accounting at the top universities located on the eastern coast of America, there are many options that you can look at. Business Coaching Exercise, The Company You Keep

You have heard the saying you are who you hang out with. We are so busy in our daily lives, doing the same routine day after day that sometimes we don’t even realize our surroundings. I probably talk to 3 people a week that are so miserable with their lives and just can’t seem to get out of the rut. My first question to them is who do you spend your time with? They almost always pause, like that is a weird question.

Let’s be honest misery loves company and misery loves you if you are miserable. So the question is how to I get out of this state of mind? The first thing you want to do is look at your day, your week, your month and who have you been spending time with? Are they positive or negative people? Do they have the same problems you do? Or do they lift you up and make you feel better? Who are the top 5 people that motivate and inspire you? When is the last time you talked to them? I know what you might be thinking, but I am so down in the dumps, who would want to spend time with me? Other miserable people right? Wrong? You absolute have to get in the company of people that are doing the more than you!

How do you do that? My best advice is to go to events. I always say your life and your business are directly related to the number of quality events you attend. Every time I have a lull, I go to an event. Actually I am so aware of this that I make sure I am at several events every week. Whether it is my own Association of Women Entrepreneurs event, a mixer, a chamber luncheon, or my favorite – a big 3 day event with big name speakers. This always lifts my spirits and helps me create a bigger vision for my future and the contacts you make are amazing!

This exercise was taken from the 30 Day Total Business Makeover:

Write down the 5 people that you hang out with the most, could be your mom your sister, your co worker, your bar buddy, then write down what you think they make in terms of income and what their mental attitude is positive or negative? I did this exercise with my business coach about 5 years ago and I was like Dang I need to get some new friends!

In all seriousness, if you find yourself stressed out, full of anxiety, you need to get out of hermit mode and into massive people meeting mode. I know you may not feel like it but I promise you when you do you will be glad you did!
